Introduction
I am a student in Year 5 at St Kentigern's Boys School in Auckland.
This website is about Cat's Eye Snails and their eco-system.
Below you will find 3 Questions (and Answers) that I have researched.

How does a Cat's eye adapt to a new shell and rocky seashore enviroment
It doesn't adapt to a new shell, it just keeps the same shell for all it's life. Instead of the snail adapting to the shell, the shell adapts to the snail. This is because as the snail gets bigger, the shell has to adapt and grow with it. The shell is basically a rubber band that keeps stretching. When these sea snails grow old and die there shell comes off and Hemut Crabs start to inhabit this shell.
How is the rocky seashore important to balance a Cat's Eyes' life cycle?
It balances the Cat's Eyes' life cycle by giving it the right amount of algae to live off. It's important, because of course, if there was no rocky seashore what would the Cat's Eyes and all the other creatures eat and drink and where would all of them live.
How do humans impact a Cat's Eye's ecosystem?
A few ways humans can impact Cat's Eye's ecosystem are:
-
taking back the foreshore and developing it into land;
-
building things like public wharfs and boat ramps in Cat's Eye habitat;
-
walking or driving on the cat's eye's habitat;
-
creating debris and pollution that will end up in the sea;
-
Introducing new animals from overseas that compete with Cat's Eyes, for example, a rat;
-
Changing weather patterns and rising sea levels, also known as global warming.
